Kay McMeekin said...: PS the name of river in Eglinton Estate is the Lugton Water; the colliery just beyond the Garnock floods was called Bartonholm pit. Eglinton Ironworks was also situated round about here (still marked on a 1953 map I have, so obviously both places were still working.); 27 August 2009 at 19:25
